As you know, we love creating versatile professional nail products designed for a prescriptive approach to client services. Why? Because every nail type and service requires the right product for the best results. For sculpting, repairs, and corrections, we offer two key categories: Speed Sculpt and Acrylic Gel.

We often use product combinations to ensure the best product longevity without relying only on adhesion. Our products are balanced in their adhesion, flexibility and strength. Long term nail health is at the forefront of every product we create.

Adding Speed Sculpt to your soak off gel services is a great way to incorporate a hard gel product for additional strength. To learn more about why its dangerous to use soak off gels on medium to long natural nails read our blog post here.

Understanding the Difference: Jelly Gel vs. Thixotropic Gel

Nail professionals are always looking for products that offer better control, faster application, and superior durability. One key advancement in UV/LED gel technology is the development of Thixotropic gels, which are replacing traditional Jelly Gels in many professional salons. But what makes them different, and why are thixotropic gels the better choice?

The Science Behind the Formulations

Jelly Gel which we used to retail under the name of Advance Sculpting Gel around 3 years ago is a traditional thick Hard Builder Gel, meaning it is a high-viscosity builder gels with a firm, gel-like consistency that holds its shape well without running. They rely on their natural high surface tension to stay in place, making them ideal for sculpting. However, this density often requires more filing after curing, leading to longer refinement times and increased hand fatigue for Nail Technicians.

Meanwhile Thixotropic Gels which have replaced our Jelly Gel formulas and are now retailed under Speed Sculpt have a Smart - Flow Technology. These Hard Builder Gels are formulated with a specific viscosity modifier that allows them to change consistency under shear stress. This means they remain thick and stable when at rest but become more fluid when brushed or moved, making application easier while maintaining self-leveling control.

A Thixotropic Formula Offers:

  • Effortless application – Moves smoothly with the brush but stays in place once applied. Unlike stiff Jelly Gels, thixotropic gels are easy to manipulate but won’t flood the nail or cuticles.
  • Stronger and More Flexible Structure - With advancements in polymer technology, thixotropic gels cure with optimal flexibility and strength, reducing the risk of cracking or lifting.
  • Less filing required – Creates a more precise shape straight from application.
